Rethinking the Blog

It is lunch here and I’m going to take a moment to mess with my blog.

When I first started this goofball blog a few months ago my motive was to write about almost anything that came into my head. I figured there would be social opinions, personal thoughts, and various daily occurrences. The best comparison would be that the blog would be an online diary, but unlike a conventional diary I might keep in a dresser drawer, this diary would survive an apartment fire. Anyhow, I assumed that no one would read it, I’d get no visitors. It was one tiny little blog on a great big internet.

Then I joined two dating websites and got this bright idea of putting a link to my blog at one of them. I figured if someone really wanted to get to know me, what better way? Suddenly there were actual visitors, humans made of flesh and blood coming to this blog.

Yesterday I wrote an entry that described in some detail my rather amorous weekend activities. To me, these were things that deserved to go into my blog, even needed to go into my blog. I want intimacy in my life. It is important to me, and I wanted my blog to know about what I had experienced these last few days. However, I can certainly see how it could look almost pornographic to the casual, unsuspecting reader.

My tentative thinking as of this moment is that I am good with anyone who is, or who could potentially become a close friend of mine reading my personal musings. For those readers who will never be an actual part of my life, well, what harm can come from their reading my dumb blog? Who knows, maybe they could find a little entertainment within my silly life. I should also point out that I will never write anything negative about anyone who could potentially read this blog. The only real rule I have for this goofy blog is that it will never cause pain to anyone.

So, anyhow, for the time being I am going to continue my same blog policy of writing in the blog as if it is my diary, however I reserve the right to reassess that policy at any time. I don’t want to be thought of as “Katie the Blog Pornographer”, the internet has enough porn without my contributing to it.

  1. Glad you are keeping up with the blog. Never know if we'll become friends or ever meet. At the very least your blog is a nice change of pace in my work day. Thanks!

  2. Aw Katie - don't change a thing! Just watch out for creeps visiting your place of business once the OKC crowd starts really reading this blog. I've had friends with no blog that still get creeps outside their home or work! (reverse image searching to find their linkedin, etc)

My Google+ profile has a link to every on of my social media profiles, so I like you - I'm not hiding. Haha..

    keep it up-

    Matt

  3. I often feel as if I'm reading a romance novel when I read your blog. Your style of writing kind of sucks me in. Its entertaining and interesting. Keep it up! I enjoy reading! Who knew I would come across something on OKC that would actually hold my interest!

  4. I'd like to echo the sentiments of the other guys commenting on here. I, too, ran across the link to your blog on OKC and decided to give it a read. Unfortunately for me I started reading it earlier this morning before going to work and ended up making myself late (no real consequence, so no worries), so kudos to you. The level of detail on here is just right. It's enough detail to paint a picture, but not so much that it's lewd. To further say, "kudos," yours is the first blog on in a loooooong time that I've been quite so drawn in by.

    Well done.
